Hagåtña — After asking for a full accounting of special funds yesterday, Senator Telena Nelson this morning asked why autonomous agency leaders were at the Legislature this morning.

To clarify, the administration DOES NOT have the information on autonomous agency’s special funds as they handle their own finances.

Senator Frank Aguon raised the question of cash balances last week Friday during session. On Monday, the Department of Administration pulled the information for those special funds under its purview, and sent a letter to autonomous agencies as well as the Judiciary and Legislature for their information.

Yesterday, Senator Nelson requested the information for all agencies – and though the governor’s fiscal team was standing by they had not yet received the information from all autonomous agencies or the Legislature.

This morning, Senator Nelson said she was “confused” by the presence of the autonomous agencies. Speaker BJ Cruz had to explain it to her and Sen. Aguon.
