Hagåtña– Whistleblower states longstanding problems at GMHA precede her employment
In tonight’s oversight hearing on the Guam Memorial Hospital Authority (GMHA), Dr. Kozue Shimabukuro, a self-proclaimed whistle blower, acknowledges that the issues at the GMHA have long existed before she was hired.
“If you have any knowledge of TJC [the Joint Commission], you will know that they don’t revoke accreditation based on one visit. GMH [Guam Memorial Hospital] was already in jeopardy in probation long before my arrival. … This revoking of the accreditation was writing on the wall.” – Dr. Kozue Shimabukuro
Senator Rodriguez, has maintained oversight over GMHA for eight consecutive years. During this time, not only has he not fully funded GMHA year after year, he also did not support the recently passed dedicated funding source for GMHA earlier this year.
