Hagåtña, Guam – Governor Lou Leon Guerrero and Lieutenant Governor Josh Tenorio issue the following statements on the passing of former Inalåhan Mayor Doris Flores Lujan:

“We join the island of Guam in mourning the passing of former Inalåhan Mayor Doris Flores Lujan, who leaves behind a long history of public service and a legacy of leadership,” said Governor Lou Leon Guerrero. “As the first and only woman elected to lead Inalåhan, Mayor Lujan was a tireless advocate for the quality of life for our southern community. She often inspired others in our government to ‘share the wealth down south’ and united southern leaders in protecting access to proper waste disposal and improving aging infrastructure.”

“Mayor Lujan was staunchly committed to serving our island and even after 42 years of federal service, she dedicated her twilight years to supporting the availability of government services in the south, especially for our manåmko’, veterans and people with disabilities,” added Lt. Governor Josh Tenorio. “Her contributions to our people will live on in the preservation of Inalåhan’s historic places, which under her leadership, advanced the restoration and rehabilitation of the village’s boat ramp, bridges, heritage homes, and the repair of the Malojloj Highway.”
