Guam is growing; grow with Guam
By Ray Tenorio

My fellow Guamanians,
Thank you for this opportunity to speak with you today. The Governor and I are excited that Guam is growing. The opportunity is right here for you to grow with Guam.
We’ve just released information on the magnitude and frequency of development throughout our island. We also wanted to show you what’s in store over the next few months. This isn’t the only indication of the upswing.
The latest employment report showed a dramatic increase in hourly pay in the private sector. That doesn’t just say the private sector is growing. It also says employers are raising wages without the government’s two cents. This trend of increasing wages gives me confidence that wages will keep going up as the economy grows more.
The one thing that is clear about all this growth is that our workforce isn’t prepared. But this is not the time for us to despair. It’s a calling for us to prepare. The need for skilled workers is just going to grow as the months and years go by. Careers in a number of industries will open up to anyone qualified. This is a call to today’s graduates — and anyone with a high school diploma — to go to GCC, UOG and the Guam Trades Academy. Grow with Guam.
It’s also a call for Guamanians to start that small business you’ve been dreaming about. We can help you with that. Now is the time to make things happen
Guam is growing. Grow with Guam.
Thank you, and God bless you.
