Hagåtña – About 400 young learners and their family members celebrated the 53rd anniversary of our island’s Head Start program.
A beautiful array of banners and posters decorated the breezeway at Adelup to represent each Head Start Center.
The children kicked off the proclamation event with song and dance. Lieutenant Governor Ray Tenorio joined in the singing before reading and signing the proclamation.
Governor Eddie Calvo Stated, “Our Administration is a strong proponent of education and we believe that programs like Head Start give children a solid foundation to help succeed in school and social settings. We’ve worked closely with the Dept. of Education to support higher graduation rates and decrease drop-out rates; we’ve even found a way to offer free education at Guam Community College and the GCA Trades Academy.”
“The commitment and services of the dedicated Head Start staff has been instrumental in creating a quality program that prepares the future generations of our island with a ‘head start’ in life,” stated Lt.
