Calvo Encourages Investors to Bring Their Money to Guam

(Honolulu, Hawaii) Governor Eddie Baza Calvo headlined an investment conference in Hawaii today. The Governor is on his way to the nation’s Capitol for a series of negotiations with federal officials. He stopped by Honolulu to invite capital investment to Guam during the conference sponsored by The Limtiaco Company, ChaneyBrooks and Matson.
“People see a bright future in Guam,” Governor Calvo said. “We want these investors to bring their money to Guam and create career opportunities for our people.”
The Governor told a room full of 170 Hawaiian businessmen and women about the business environment in Guam, and the potential from the military buildup. He laid out statistics regarding Guam’s current gross domestic product, tourism industry and capital outlays for utilities and other infrastructure. Consolidated Commission on Utilities Chairman Simon Sanchez also provided further details on utilities improvements in anticipation of growth.
“Communities throughout the States have uncertain futures,” Governor Calvo said. “Investors like what they see for Guam. There is optimism and the sense that Guam can be a bridge to Asian markets. We are truly in a position to build a strong future for the next generation.”
The Governor will be leaving Honolulu in a few hours to head to Washington, D.C. He will be meeting with the Pacific Basin Development Council before beginning his conference with the nation’s governors in the National Governors Association.
