First Lady Christine Calvo and Autism Community Together invite the island community to participate in the 9th Annual Autism Awareness Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 2 at the Agana Shopping Center.

At the event, residents can learn more about autism spectrum disorder, the signs or symptoms parents should look for in young children to determine whether they should be assessed, and what programs are available to them.

The Fair kicks off more activities that will be held throughout April, which is Autism Awareness Month. The First Lady encourages the community to take some time and learn more about autism.

For example, did you know are more than 70 million people around the world have autism spectrum disorder? Also, one in every 68 children is diagnosed with autism.

Residents also can help raise awareness by taking the pledge to go blue. Throw on your favorite blue shirt or light your home blue, and go online to the AutismSpeaks.org and facebook.com/actguam to learn more about upcoming events and what you can do to support your friends and neighbors.
