First Lady Accepts $10K Donation to Red Cross
Pay-Less Community Foundation, Calvo Team Up to Help Japan

First Lady Christine Calvo accepted yet another large donation to help the victims and families affected by the recent tragedies in Japan. This morning, Pay-Less Community Foundation gave $10,000 to the American Red Cross for Japan Disaster Relief. The contribution was made as part of the government-wide organization led by First Lady Christine M.S. Calvo.
“Every day, I hear about the people who still need help in Japan. And every day, another company and more of our families give from their hearts,” First Lady Calvo said. “Our island may be small, but this community shows Guam has the strongest spirit of love in the world.”
Pay-Less representatives and First Lady Calvo presented a check for the donation to American Red Cross Guam Chapter Chief Executive Officer Chita Blaise.
According to Pay-Less Chairman of the Board and Executive Vice President Kathy Sgro, customers donated $2,000, Pay-Less Community Foundation doubled that amount by donating $4,000 and the remaining $4,000 came from the proceeds from its Kick the Fat 5K. Donation boxes will be at all 7 Pay-Less locations through the month of April.
