NEWS: 50 kids participate in Department of Agriculture fishing derby; 9 earn top spots in three divisions

Hagåtña – For 27 years, the Department of Agriculture has been holding a fishing derby. This is a catch and release derby, educating contestants on the importance of releasing small fish, which allows the fish to reproduce and maintain a healthy population.
There were 50 participants in this year’s competition and the top three competitors in each division were:
DIVISION 1: MOST FISH
• Vaegha Bass: First place
• Jonah Vincent Blas: 2nd place
• Cassandra Jolene Kido: 3rd place
DIVISION 2: LONGEST TRIGGERFISH
• Aleiya Koiyar Soaladaob: First place
• Joseph Carlos Laguana: 2nd place
• Sabrina Rae Mallo: 3rd place
DIVISION 3: LONGEST FISH
• Madison Lee Concepcion: 1st place
• Gavin Chase Manibusan: 2nd place
• Shawn Anthony Villaluna: 3rd place
